During this 120-minute session, you will learn how to shape, texture and refine silver clay while creating your own small piece of silver jewellery. No previous jewellery-making experience is needed, making this an ideal introduction for anyone curious about the material.
Silver clay is made from fine silver particles combined with water and an organic binder. It begins soft and workable, then transforms into solid silver when fired.
During the workshop, you will learn
- How to handle and shape silver clay
- How to create simple textures and surface details
- How to refine your piece before firing
- How the firing process transforms clay into silver
- Basic polishing and finishing techniques
What you can make
You will use up to 5g of silver clay to create one small project, such as:
- A pendant or charm
- A pair of simple stud earrings
The final design will depend on its size, thickness and complexity. To ensure the project can be completed within the session, designs will be kept simple and suitable for beginners.
